Its official, the New York Yankees are your 2018 (2019, 2020, 2021, etc…) World Series Champions. The addition of Giancarlo Stanton to the already loaded NY roster spells trouble for literally everyone else. The Yankees now have the top two sluggers in the league as well as 21st ranked Gary Sanchez.
As well as signing Stanton, the Yankees have many prospects, and even have the opportunity to trade some of those to the Chicago White Sox if 3rd baseman Manny Machado. Machado is currently trying to get out of Baltimore and though the Orioles refuse to deal with their division rivals, the White Sox may be the perfect buffer team that ensures the Yankees receive Machado. The Orioles are looking for two top pitching prospects and if the White Sox decide to give that up the Yankees will surely be able to compensate that loss if it means bringing another stud hitter on board.
The only place that the Bronx Bombers may have a weakness is in their pitching staff. They are currently considered to be the fourth best pitching team in the American League, and struggled at the mound towards the end of the ALCS vs. the eventual champion Astros.
Looking on the other side of the league, there is no one close to hitting as well as the Yankees. As well, even pitchers like Clayton Kershaw, Max Scherzer, and Stephen Strasburg are going to struggle against any lineup the Yankees may field. No matter how you feel about the Yankees, these moves likely mark the start of a long string of Championships and domination for New York.
