It’s finally time! The NFL is officially back starting Thursday night with the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles taking on the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons are in luck though, MVP candidate Carson Wentz is still out for the Eagles after he tore his ACL last year. With that being said, the Eagles are a very similar team to the one that took home the Lombardi Trophy last season and I’m expecting big things from them this season.
Without further adieu, lets get into my predictions.
AFC North: x Steelers (10-6), x Browns (9-7), Ravens (7-9), Bengals (5-11)
AFC South: z Texans (11-5), Titans (9-7), Jaguars (9-7), Colts (6-10)
AFC East: z Patriots (11-5), Jets (9-7), Dolphins (8-8), Bills (8-8)
AFC West: x Chiefs (10-6), x Chargers (9-7), Broncos (8-8), Raiders (7-9)
NFC North: x Vikings (11-5), Packers (10-6), Lions (9-7), Bears (7-9)
NFC South: Saints (10-6), Falcons (10-6), Panthers (8-8), Buccaneers (7-9)
NFC East: z Cowboys (12-4), x Eagles (11-5), Giants (10-6), Redskins (6-10)
NFC West: z 49ers (11-5), x Rams (11-5), Cardinals (9-7), Seahawks (8-8)
x = Playoff Birth
z = Home Field Advantage
Okay, I know what you’re thinking, “how can you have the Browns in the playoffs, they’ve only won 1 game in the last 2 years”. Well my answer to that is, how can I not. This team has the best receiving core in the NFL, as well as a very good defense. They are a solid team all around and I wouldn’t be surprised if they manage to win their division with the Le’veon Bell situation continuing into the regular season.
Also in the AFC, I believe that the Texans are STRONG contenders to take down New England, and make it to the Super Bowl. They’ll have JJ Watt and Deshaun Watson returning from season ending injuries last year and solid units on both sides of the ball.
In the NFC, it’s Dallas all the way in my eyes. They have the best RB in the league, as well as the best Offensive Line. Pair that with a very good defense, and QB Dak Prescott and this team is a no-brainer. The only thing that could hold this team back is the lack of WRs on the roster following the release of Dez Bryant. Other strong contenders for me are the Rams, Saints, and Eagles, who are all very young and talented teams who are going to be better than last season.
