After last week’s dominating and record setting performance, the 1-0 Razorbacks take on the 0-2 Rams out of Colorado State. The defense will look to have a repeat showing in the turnover category from last week, forcing six fumbles and recovering five of them. The six forced fumbles in the opener were the most since Arkansas joined the SEC 26 years ago.
One of the stars of the defense was Dre Greenlaw, who had a remarkable first quarter gathering ten tackles before having to permanently exit the game due to a high ankle sprain. While the injury doesn’t appear to be too serious, emerging freshman Bumper Pool will fill in for the senior. Another star defensive stud for the Hogs that is doubtful for the contest against the Rams is Randy Ramsey. Ramsey is also dealing with a bum ankle that kept him out for the entirety of game #1.
Mike Woods on the other hand is expected to make his collegiate debut tomorrow against the Rams. The freshman WR had to serve his one game suspension due to a DUI back in July. The former three star out of Magnolia, Texas will provide meaningful snaps for the Hogs in tomorrow’s matchup.
Going back to last week’s game, Ty Storey without a doubt outplayed his counterpart in Cole Kelley. Ty will be getting the start, but Coach Morris admitted the feel of the game will determine which QB is taking the reps. Basically, whoever is moving the ball down the field and putting points on the board will be getting the snaps.
Let’s move over to the Rams for a moment. Remember the Razorback defense last year? Yeah, Colorado State is a mirror image of it. Opponents are putting up video game type numbers to the tune of 44 PPG and 607(!) YPG. The opponents CSU faced to produce these numbers; Hawaii and Colorado. Expect the Road Hogs to have a field day (or night) in Coach Chad Morris’ first road game as the Head Hog.
HOGS WIN BIG AGAIN!
45-24 Good Guys.
