Army (2-1) takes on No.5 Oklahoma at 7 p.m. on PPV. Oklahoma will look to figure out Army’s ground and pound triple option. Sooners quarterback Kyler Murray is looking to make more of a Heisman push with another good performance. Quarterback Kelvin Hopkins is no slouch either, last week he lead the Army Golden Knights to a huge win against Hawaii rushing for 110 yards and 6 for 10 passing for 162 yards.
Oklahoma is coming off a close win against Iowa State, where they took down the Cyclones 37-27. The Sooners have an electric offense averaging 551.3 yards per game. Coming into this game Oklahoma has played Florida Atlantic, UCLA, and Iowa State. The first two games were very convincing with both the offense and defense playing extraordinarily well. The Sooners had problems on defense against Iowa State but the offense pulled through to send them to 3-0 on the year.
Oklahoma will be entering this game without their star running back Rodney Anderson who was on the Heisman watch at the beginning of the season.Anderson’s backup, Trey Sermon got hurt against Iowa State but is expected to play this week against the Golden Knights. Army’s defense has been looking forward to this matchup for months. They want to prove to the country that their defense is legit and can stop one of the best offenses in the country.
The last time the Sooners and the Golden Knights met was on November 18, 1961 in Yankee Stadium. Oklahoma beat Army 14-8. The Sooners are favored in this game by 31 points but I wouldn’t ignore the Golden Knights. Oklahoma is gonna try to get a big win over Army to get closer to the College Football Playoff. Army is looking to beat the No. 5 Sooners and getting one of the biggest wins in school history. I have Oklahoma defeating Army 49-21.
