If there is anything we have learned through 4 weeks, it’s that we know nothing at all.
As if you’re anything like me, you love that.
It is, after all, the hatred of losing that I fear the most. The rush of a win is great! But a bad beat, gah, that just pisses me off. So follow me, on a journey to conquer the beat, embrace the win, and cash some checks.
Here’s my picks for the week, enjoy!
Jacksonville (+3) vs. Kansas City (O/48.5)
One of the best matchups of the week pits a top-5 defense in the Jags, against a top-3 offense by way of Pat Mahomes and KC. This will be far and away the toughest challenge to date for the Red-Hot Mahomes. The Chiefs came out with a big, come-from-behind win last Monday night. However, look for the Jags to exploit some holes in the Chiefs scheme that were uncovered by the Broncos last week. This should aid the Jags in merely slowing down KC enough to give Bortles a shot. Even though Jacksonville will be without star RB Leonard Fournette, look for them to put up enough points to leave Kansas City with a dub in a shootout.
Atlanta (+3) vs. Pittsburg (O/57.5)
When two teams line up against one another, both with loads of offensive weapons and an underwhelming record, that simply means that we will see fireworks all game, and a lot of them. With both teams desperate for a win, look for them to move the ball at an alarming high rate. The key for the Falcons should be capitalizing on red-zone opportunities. Something that has come easier as of late, thanks to the discovery of rookie WR Calvin Ridley. His explosiveness should be able to take advantage of weaknesses in the Steelers secondary, while also taking some of the workload off of WR Julio Jone’s shoulders. The Falcons win this one in a fun game.
JOEY’S MORTAL LOCK OF THE WEEK
LA Rams (-7.5) vs. Seattle (O/50)
This Rams offense is something else. So incredibly fun to watch and extremely creative in their offensive scheme. They are are hottest team in football right now and show no signs of stopping anytime soon. The Rams and the Over are an absolute lock, and I’ll believe that until they move the O/U’s up to 75. Rams by 20 in a blowout.
3 For The Road
Minnesota vs. Philadelphia (-3) (O/47)
Oakland (+5) vs. LA Chargers (O/52.5)
Baltimore vs. Cleveland (+3) (O/45.5)
PSA: Take the Over. The NFL wants points, they’ve implemented rule changes to get points, and so they shall receive points.
