The Jayhawks look to get back on track with another big conference game this week against TCU. This young Kansas team didn’t have very high expectations going into the season, but already have two wins under their belt and will be looking to add a big name to that list.
This defense has been one of the only bright spots as the season progressed into tougher conference games. Led by Defensive End Daniel Wise, a former long distance track star, this defense has boasted an impressive 12 interceptions this year. Wise alone has been dominating the trenches for the Jayhawks, totaling for 8 TFLS, 3 Sacks, and 17 solo tackles. Leading the secondary is Safety Hasan Defense. And I think his last name speaks for itself, this kid knows how to play. Not only has Defense brought in 3 int’s this year, he also has 26 tackles and looks to build on those numbers this week.
The Jayhawks are not all defense though, Senior transfer from Washington State Peyton Brender has thrown for nearly 1,000 yards and has kept the football away from opponents. With an 8-2 touchdown/int ratio, Brender has been solid for Kansas this season. Other key players on the offense include Senior Wide-Out Steven Sims Jr, Junior Left Tackle Hakeem Adeniji, and Junior Running back Khalil Herbert. This offense is full of weapons and I hope they are able to use them well enough to pull out a win against TCU.
Notably : The Jayhawks are actively searching for a replacement head coach for next season as it is likely David Beatty will be out of a job unless he is able to turn this season around. Possible future coaches include; Lane Kiffen, Bret Bielema, and Mike Leach. These are some big name coaches and if Kansas is able to attract any of them it could be a big deal for the future of the program.
Score Prediction – 24-17 Kansas, the Jayhawks pull of the Big 12 upset of the year!
