With last night’s 5-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston are champions again. The Red Sox came into the playoffs with 108 wins, the most in the MLB. Sunday’s close-out win marked the 4th world series win for the Sox in the past 15 years. Of course, we couldn’t let Aaron Judge and the Yanks get away with that whole “New York, New York” stunt they pulled after game 2 of the ALDS. For the 3rd time this postseason, Boston popped champagne to Frank Sinatra’s hit and Yankee fans are not taking it well.
As a Red Sox fan, you are not “rent free” in my head because we chant “Yankees Suck” and play New York, New York. We are making fun of you because you deserve to be made fun of. There is no “Big Brother Complex”, we’re not jealous of your 27 rings. In fact, we have 4 times as many as you do in the last 15 years and show no signs of slowing down. We have been better in this century and it’s going to stay that way, get used to it.
Now back to the World Series, this is very important to the city of Boston. For the first time since Bird’s Celtics, there is a dynasty in Boston. This has been the best team in baseball this century and it’s not particularly close. The same cannot be said about the Celtics who had two years of glory back in the late 2000s or even the city’s football team.
I know what you’re thinking, “What are you talking about? The Patriots are the most dominant franchise in all of sports since 2000!” Honestly, I won’t consider them a dynasty no-matter what they do. Similar to the Golden State Warriors, this team does not deserve 90% of the championships they have won. Even worse than not deserving them, the Patriots have cheated for them. Thus, they are not a dynasty and will never be one in my book.
Boston finally has something to look forward to, and I for one am glad for you. As I’m just a Sox fan and couldn’t care less about any of the city’s other teams, I’m here to celebrate with you, THE RED SOX ARE CHAMPIONS ONCE AGAIN!!!
