BIG Moves Being Made in MLB Free-Agency

Arguably the biggest and most important part of baseball is upon us. With the season coming to an end and a new champion crowned, free agency has begun. Many players will find themselves signing to play in a new uniform in the coming year as teams try to put together a roster that they feel will allow them to compete for a World Series Title next fall. Throughout the next couple months leading up to the start of the season many teams will also trade key pieces in their lineups in order to try to build and create a roster of players that fit in with the ones that they already have. Here at Trader Talks Sports we will keep you updated on the trades and signings that make this offseason free agency interesting. We will also provide you with our thoughts on where players would fit in and with what teams they could potentially sign with.

RECAP:

-Cardinals acquire 1B Paul Goldschmidt from the Diamondbacks three players and a compensation draft pick

-Mets receive 2B Robinson Cano and RHP Edwin Diaz from the Mariners for OF Jay Bruce and four other players

-Phillies receive INF Jean Segura and others from the the Mariners for 1B Carlos Santana and SS J.P. Crawford

-Nationals get C Yan Gomes from the Indians for two Minor League players and another player to be named later

-Cubs acquire INF Ronald Torreyes from the Yankees for a player to be named later

-James Paxton to the Yankees from the Mariners for multiple players

TRADES WRAP UP

The biggest acquire is probably that of the Cardinals. Adding a Bat in the the lineup of the caliber of Goldschmidt could be a huge upgrade. Especially with how well he has played against the teams in the Central Division along with the Cardinals.

The most interesting thing that has happened so far is the way that the Mariners have treated the offseason. They have been mentioned in a ton of trades and have all but cleared house. It should be interesting to see how the pieces they traded for in at their new teams. Will they end up looking good for the Mariners or end up like the Marlins and trade away huge pieces that bite them in the butt.
