10:00 left in the first half.
From that point on, the Hogs bolted to the finish line. Outscoring their opponent by 25 points en route to a 72-60 victory. Sure it wasn’t pretty, but this could be the win that gets Arkansas over the hump. This was a must-win heading into the B12/SEC challenge, as they will take on nationally ranked Texas Tech in Lubbock. I don’t expect this team to win by any means. I do, however, expect this team to put up a fight. What do we have to lose?
After Tech, they face Georgia, Vanderbilt, and Mizzou in three of their next five games. Win those three and we are looking at a respectable conference record. Even though that may seem best case scenario, crazier stuff has happened. Free throws and defense are the keys for the Hogs heading down the stretch. On Wednesday, the Razorbacks consistently left the best shooter in the conference wide open. Those kinds of defensive lapses can not happen as often as they did against Missouri.
February will be a huge month for Mike Anderson and his career as the head Hog. He can not afford to let the season spin out of control. A winning percentage below .500 would lead to a decision for athletic director Hunter Yurachek. Mike will earn himself a 9th year as long as he keeps the troops moving forward.
Saturday – 5:00 – Lubbock, TX
Maybe this young team can get a couple lucky bounces and knock off the Red Raiders. Wouldn’t that be somethin’?!
