Tuesday night we got word that former Alabama running back Najee Harris drove 9 hours to Tuscaloosa after his flight was cancelled in order to support his teammates at the Tide’s pro day.
What a move by Harris on this one. Not only is this an all time coaching example going forward, but Najee Harris is now the #1 team guy in the draft strictly after today’s influx of media love. Heck, I’m still salty about him eating my Buckeyes’ lunch, and I’m writing about how much of a great teammate he looks like here.
Every pee-wee football coach in the country has this story saved on ten different platforms ready to guilt any player who gives notice of a family vacation. High school coaches are licking their chops just thinking about what they can leverage their players to do by throwing this story up in team meetings.
The craziest part of this is that he wasn’t even set to work out. He’s content with his draft stock, but in trying to support his teammates he has likely sent it to the moon. With Harris projected as one of the top backs off the board, this story makes that choice a heck of a lot clearer for teams in need (although Trey Sermon may have something to say about that).
